Note:
1. In addition to 12 credits of doctoral dissertation, graduate students of the Institute should complete at least 18 credits (12 credits of compulsory + 6 credits of electives) before graduation.
2. The courses are divided into general courses for domestic students and English courses for foreign students (please refer to the name of the course containing “(EN)”).
3. The maximum number of credits per semester for postgraduate students is 15 credits.
4. The doctoral program of the Institute may recognize the credits of courses offered by other graduate institutes at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), as well as the credits of courses offered by the other universities that have signed an agreement with KMU. Credits may be recognized with the consent of the supervising professor and the Institute.
5. The elective courses of the doctoral program of the Institute shall be handled in accordance with the “Course opening regulations” of the University.
6. The postgraduates who take undergraduate courses shall pass with at least 60 points. Those who fail to pass the exam will not be allowed to make up the examination, and the credits and grades of the undergraduate (Bachelor) courses will not be counted in the calculation of the semester, including graduation average score.
7. Graduate students enrolled from the 2017 academic year onwards are required to study by themselves on the website of the Taiwan Academic Ethics Education Resource Center (login https://ethics-s.moe.edu.tw/login/s/; guide https://ethics.moe.edu.tw/newuser/2/), and obtain a certificate of course attendance (6 hours) through the general test during the first semester of study.
8. When submitting the course report, students are required to attach the proof of use of Turnitin for plagiarism detection. If no relevant report is attached, the score will be 0.
9. Micro-credits can be counted as graduation credits, with a maximum of four credits.
10. Postgraduate students who apply for graduation are required to fill the "Postgraduate Dissertation Quality Assurance Inspection Form" together with the dissertation examination application form and the documents required for graduation shall be submitted to the Institute office for inspection.
11. English qualification requirements for graduation in doctoral degree program:
Before the 113th academic year:
(1) TOEFL Test Score: TOEFL Paper-Based Test (ITP) score of at least 500 points (inclusive) or TOEFL Computer Test (CBT) 193 points or TOEFL Network test (IBT) 68 points.
(2) Passed the intermediate and advanced preliminary examination of the national English examination.
(3) TOEIC score of 600 points or above.
(4) IELTS score of 5.5 points or above.
Those who have taken the English test during the school period, but the test results do not meet the above-mentioned English proficiency test requirements, need enroll-in and pass the advanced English course offered by the Language and Culture Centre of the Kaohsiung Medical University and thereby are deemed to meet the requirements. This package is available to all current students.
English graduation threshold starting from the 114th academic year:
The English graduation requirement is to attain CEFR B1 level in all four skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing, or alternatively, to complete the supplementary measures set by Kaohsiung Medical University.
